The Amelia Police Department would like to offer our residents tips for safe use of the Internet.

There are many risks and security issues involving the use of the Internet. Children and their parents should be most concerned about:

- Viewing inappropriate material
- Frauds and Scams
- Chat Rooms

Tips for Kids:

- NEVER give out any personal information such as your address, telephone number
- NEVER agree to get together with someone you “meet” online. Remember, you are talking to a stranger
- NEVER respond to messages that make you feel uncomfortable

Tips for Parents:
- Monitor your credit card bills
- Consider commercially available Internet security products
- Know what your children are doing on the Internet
- Consider a “family” computer placed in a family room rather than a bedroom

Just like other types of crimes, Village residents are encouraged to report suspicious activity to the Amelia Police Department.
