Hello and Welcome to the Amelia Village Website!

I hope that you will find this website a good resource for information, and that you refer to it often in an attempt to be well informed.

While campaigning in Amelia, I came to the realization that there is a disconnection between the residents of the Village and Village government. While I do not believe this was intentional, a problem did exist. An important part of the commitment that I made to our citizens as I campaigned for the position of Mayor was, and still is to:

  • - Listen to citizen thoughts and concerns.
  • - Encourage residents to take a more active role in our community meetings so that their ideas and concerns can be addressed in a public forum.
  • - Implement a series of town hall style meetings, inviting residents to be more interactive.

And while much of my commitment has been accomplished, the very nature of reconnecting with citizens has come at a cost.

That cost has been bad P.R. and a further division of Village Residents and it’s Elected Officials. 2008 and 2009 have been very challenging times for all of us here in Amelia Village.

Village Council, Administration and Personnel, have been called to account by our residents and now that the ballot issue is behind us, it is time to re-build lost trust and rebuild relationships that have been damaged.

At this time, I would like to convey the philosophy of Amelia Village Administration, Council and all Village Personnel moving forward.

Amelia’s Future is ahead of us, not behind us!

Let’s look to the future in an effort to make Amelia a more desirable place to live, work and play.

Amelia Village Council will strive to achieve a high level of transparency in government, and to continue to seek community involvement in an ongoing effort to re-build trust and an even stronger sense of Community.

Amelia Village Services will be delivered in a manner that exceeds resident expectations, and services will be delivered in the spirit of “Customer Service”

Our residents have spoken loud and clear as to their desire to remain a Village, now it is up to Amelia Village Administration, Council and Personnel to make sure that our residents receive the kind of services, support and sense of community that they deserve.

God gives us the boat, but it’s up to us to row it.
