The following are questions that many residents have regarding living in the Village of Amelia. These questions are organized by topics to make it easier to find the answers. Feel free to contact our offices at 513-753-4747 Monday –Friday from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm if you have any other questions.

Q. What day is my trash picked up?
A. Regular Trash and Recycle pick up - Thursday
     Yard Waste pick up - Monday & Friday please call one day in advance for yard waste pickup

Q. What can I do if my garbage does not get picked up?
A. Call our office at 513-753-4747 and we will get it resolved.

Q. Can I put a refrigerator or air conditioner out for garbage pick up?
A. Yes; However, before disposal the Freon must be professionally removed. There must be a certification label, attached to the item, before pickup. Also you will need to put an orange “Amelia” sticker on the item, which can be purchased at CVS drugstore 52 W. Main St. Also be sure to call our office at least one day before pickup so we can ensure that Rumpke has the right manpower and equipment on the run to handle this request. If either label is not present, the item will not be picked up.

Q. Can I put other large items out for pick up?
A. Yes; You will need to put an orange “Amelia” sticker on the item, which can be purchased at CVS drugstore 52 W. Main St. Also be sure to call our office at least one day before pickup so we can ensure that Rumpke has the right manpower and equipment on the run to handle this request.

Also, every June, Amelia Village offers a free curbside removal of virtually any item. “Junk Day” usually falls on the Saturday after our annual village-wide yard sale. On “Junk Day” residents can set anything out for pick up by Rumpke with a few exceptions; tires, paint cans that contain paint (paint cans must be empty and open and dry on the inside), appliances that still contain Freon, and car batteries.

Q. How can I dispose of carpeting?
A. Carpeting must be rolled in 4' long bundles. Each bundle must have an orange “Amelia” sticker on it, which can be purchased at CVS drugstore 52 W. Main St. Also be sure to call our office at least one day before pickup. You may put a maximum of 4 rolls out each Thursday with stickers affixed, along with your normal trash.

Q. Will Rumpke pick up my recycling if it is in a card board box?
A. No: You are allowed unlimited recycling but it must be put into a red recycle bin. If you need more than one bin call our office and we’ll be glad to deliver one to you home free of charge.

Q. How can I dispose of hazardous materials?
A. Information on disposal of hazardous materials can be obtain a number of ways: call our office at 513-753-4747 and ask for a pamphlet to be mailed to you, stop in our office and pick up a pamphlet, or access the Clermont County Office of Environmental Quality at  www.oeq.net on the internet.

Q. What types of materials are recyclable?
A. The following items can be recycled; paper, glass, aluminum beverage cans, tin or metal cans, corrugated cardboard broken down to 2' X 2' pieces, plastic bottles and containers (with lids removed) that have #1 or #2 stamped on them. Lids for these containers cannot be recycled. To see more about recycling, please visit www.rumpkerecycling.com.

Q. Can I put my computer out with my garbage?
A. Computers can be put out with regular trash. They cannot be recycled because they contain harmful materials.

Q. Can my broken or damaged recycling bin be replaced?
A. Yes, just call our office and our Public Works department will deliver one to your home.

Q. What should I do with my recycling bin if I move?
A. The recycle bins are issued to the house. They should remain there if you move.

Q. What holidays does Rumpke observe that will affect my service?
A. Christmas Day and New Year's Day will cause service to be one day late for that week only.

Q. What should I do if a street light goes out?
A. Call our office and we will report the outage to Duke.

Q. What should I do if I need the police?
A. Always call 9-1-1 if you have an emergency. If you need the police and it is not an emergency, please the  non-emergency number for Union Township dispatch at 513-752-1230. Let them know to dispatch an Amelia police officer to your location or have an Amelia officer call you back, depending on the need you specify to the dispatcher.

Q. What Fire Department services Amelia Village?
A. Amelia Village has contracted Union Township Fire Department to service its residents and businesses. These services are provided through a voted Fire Levy, and no additional billing will occur.

Q. Why does Union Township dispatch handle calls for Amelia?
A.  Amelia has contracted with Union Township for dispatch services since Jan 2004. The logic behind this agreement was, Amelia already contracted with Union Township for fire and EMS services,  which are dispatch by Union Twp, so it made sense to have our Police and Fire services dispatched by the same entity.

Q. What park amenities does Amelia Village offer?
A. Amelia has 3 village parks:
(1) Groh Park has a playground, basketball court, playing fields, a picnic shelter, a paved shaded walking trail, and tables and benches scattered throughout the park.
(2) Spencer Shank Park features the Great Amelia Paw Park, a 9 hole disc golf course, children's playground area, a picnic shelter, tables, benches and grills, and  two full sized basketball courts and an 8 ft wide walking/biking trail.
(3)Arrowhead Pointe Park offers children’s playground equipment including slides and spring animals as well as picnic tables and benches. For more detailed information go to our “Parks & Recreation” button elsewhere on our website.

Q. Does Amelia Village sponsor any parades?
A. For more than 25 years Amelia Village has hosted an annual Christmas parade the second Sunday in December. Please be advised that the parade route goes down Main St and SR125 down to SR132 N, at Krogers, and therefore Main St will be closed for the duration of the parade. Detours signs and officers from various agencies will direct traffic around the parade to ensure a minimal amount of disruptions. The parade is free to anyone that would like to enter. Q. Can I reserve an Amelia park?
A. Yes: Groh Park and Spencer Shank Park each have a picnic shelter that can be reserved. Call our office or check elsewhere on our website under “Parks & Recreation” for more information.

Q. How can I participate in the Memorial Tree Program?
A. Call our office or check elsewhere on our website under “Parks & Recreation” for more information.

Q. Where is the Disc (Frisbee) Golf Course located?
A.  The Disc Golf Course is located in Spencer Shank Park which is located off Robin Way at the south end of Sedona Ridge subdivision.  For more information check elsewhere on our website under “Parks & Recreation”.  
 
Q. Where is the Dog Park located?
A. The “Great Amelia Paw Park” is located in Spencer Shank Park which is located off Robin Way at the south end of Sedona Ridge subdivision. As you turn onto Robin Way you will see Shank Park on the right, turn right at the next street (Canary Drive), The Dog Park is located to the rear of  the park behind the detention basin, easily accessible by the blacktopped walking trail.

Q. How do I know if I live in Amelia Village?
A. Many people have an Amelia Post Office address however not all of those are residents of Amelia Village. If you are not sure call our office and we can help you or access the Clermont County Auditor's website at www.clermontautitorrealestate.org and search for your address or name.

Q. What are the hours for the Administrative Office?
A. Our offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Q.  What Holidays does Amelia Village observe?
A.   The following holidays are observed by Amelia Village and the offices will be closed on those dates:

Memorial Day
Independence Day
Labor Day
Veterans Day
Thanksgiving Day
Christmas Day

For administrative, public works, and civilian police staff, if the holiday falls on a Saturday it will be observed on the preceding Friday. If the Holiday falls on a Sunday, it will be observed on the following Monday. 

However, Amelia Police Department and Union Twp Fire and EMS will be on duty 24/7 and will respond as needed. The Public Works department will be off those days as well, unless there is a snow event in which case they will be out salting and plowing the streets as necessary.
