Abandoned Vehicles back to top
The Amelia Police Department is authorized to provide for the removal of any vehicle left unattended upon any public street for seventy-two hours, any vehicle that is illegally parked that constitutes a hazard or obstruction to the normal movement of traffic or any vehicle that is left on private property for more than seventy-two hours without the property’s owner’s permission. Owners of illegally parked or unattended vehicles are liable for citation and towing/impound fees. For further information, contact the Amelia Police Department at 753-4747.

Reports can be obtained at the Amelia Police Department, 44 West Main Street Monday through Friday during normal business hours. There is no charge for any report that is five pages or less. Any report greater than five pages will have a charge of five (5) cents per page.

Athletic Programsback to top
Volunteer athletic associations, not associated with the Village, offer a variety of competitive sports programs for youth to participate in throughout the year, such as baseball, football, soccer, and softball. Barking Dogsback to top
No person shall allow a dog to disturb their neighbors by frequent or habitual barking. For more information, call the Amelia Police Department at 753-4747.
Basketball Courtsback to top
The Village has one unlighted, outside court at Groh Park located on Huntsman Trace near Quail Creek and two unlighted, outside courts at Spencer Shank Park on Robin Way in Sedona Ridge. Both Parks are open from dawn until dusk.
Block Partiesback to top
Residents must make requests by application at least two weeks in advance. Arrangements will then be made for sawhorses/barricades to temporarily block off their street. Police officers are available to visit neighborhood parties or participate in special neighborhood events. Call the Municipal Office at 753-4747 for an application or more information.
Board of Electionsback to top
Located at 76 South Riverside Drive in Batavia can be reached at 732-7275. In order to vote in any election, you must be a resident of Amelia and registered to vote at least 30 days prior to any election.
Board of Zoning Appealsback to top
A five (5) member board meets on an as-needed basis to review minor variations from the zoning code. All members are volunteer residents of Amelia Village and appointed by the Mayor to staggered four (4) year terms.

All citations issued by the Amelia Police Department can be paid in person by cash, check, or money order at the Municipal Office at 44 West Main Street, Monday – Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. After hours, a drop box is available at the front of the building for payment by check or money order.

The Village Treasurer’s office expends all revenues, authorized by Council, within the Village. The Clermont County Auditor’s office collects all property taxes for the Village.

Large items can be disposed of by purchasing a sticker at CVS Drugstore located at Oak and Main Streets. Call 753-4747 for further information.
Garage Salesback to top
Permits are required for all garage/yard sales within the Village. Permits and are available at the Municipal Office free of charge. Each resident is limited to three permits per year at no charge. One weekend a year (the first weekend in June) the Recreation Commission sponsors a “Village Wide Yard Sale” for which permits are not required. Call 753-4747 for more details.

Lawncareback to top
In an attempt to ensure the attractiveness of Amelia and control noxious weeds and grass, property owners are required to keep all weeds and grass less than 12 inches high. If after notification the grass/weeds have not been cut, the Village will contract to have the property mowed and the property owner will be billed. If that bill is not paid within 30 days a lien can be placed on the property. If you would like to report a violation please call the Zoning Department at 753-4747. Also see ‘Yard Waste’.
Leavesback to top
The Village sponsors a fall leaf pickup season beginning in October through Thanksgiving. Residents may rake their leaves to the curb or bag the leaves up and leave at curbside. Exact beginning and ending dates of pickup may vary from year to year depending on the weather. For further information contact the Village offices at 753-4747. You do not need to call to arrange pickups.

Excessive noise is prohibited by Amelia Municipal code. This includes noise of such intensity and duration as to unreasonably disturb the peace and quiet of a residential area.

Parking is prohibited by ordinance under the following conditions:
1. Anywhere on Main Street
2. On a sidewalk.
3. In front of a public or private driveway.
4. Within an intersection.
5. Within ten (10) feet of a fire hydrant.
6. On a crosswalk on Main Street.
7. Within one (1) foot of another parked vehicle.
8. Within thirty (30) feet of traffic control device or stop sign.
9. At any place where signs prohibit parking.

Amelia Village owns and operates three parks:
Robert W. Groh Community Parklocated on Huntsman Trace near Quail Creek and Woodside Park Subdivisions, is a small 5-acre park, which facilities include a full sized basketball court, picnic areas, a shelter area, walking trails, and playground equipment.
Spencer Shank Memorial Park located on Robin Way and Canary Drive in the Sedona Ridge Subdivision. This 20 acre park contains something for every person. Current facilities include a 10,000 sq.ft. children’s playground, ballfields, two full sized basketball courts, a 3000 ft. blacktopped walking trail, nine hole Disc Golf Course, a picnic shelter, and Clermont Counties’ first dog park, The Great Amelia Paw Park. Two baseball/softball practice fields are currently under construction. Future plans include an outdoor amphitheatre.
Arrowhead Pointe Park located at the intersection of Arrowhead Drive, and Drake Drive in the newer part of Quail Creek subdivision. This small (3/4 acre) pocket park is designed to accommodate the needs of smaller children in the surrounding neighborhood. Current facilities include children’s playground equipment, benches, picnic table, and a gazebo to sit and visit while watching the children play.

The Chairman is elected by this group, for that calendar year. The commission consists of five (5) volunteer at-large members along with a council liaison. All at-large members serve staggered four (4) year terms and are appointed by the Mayor. Their task is to work toward the development and maintenance of an integrated park system and comprehensive recreational programs.

Right-of-Way Questionsback to top
The public right-of-way is a strip of land owned by the Village, which usually includes the roadway, the land between the roadway, and the sidewalk or utility poles. Generally, the right-of-way is a stretch of land 10-15 feet from the street. All mowing of public right-of-ways is the responsibility of abutting property owners. Taxes
Earning Taxes – The Village does not impose any earnings
tax.
Income Taxes – The Village does not impose any income taxes.
Property Taxes – The effective tax rate that residential property owners pay is $55.73 (2008 rates) per $1000 of assessed property valuation. Effective Rate is $49.88 per $1000.00. Assessed property valuation is 35% of the appraised property values.

Trash collection is provided for single family residents only by contract with Rumpke Disposal, Inc. Curbside collection is provided each Thursday morning at no cost to the resident. Yard waste is not included on trash pickup day. (See ‘Yard Waste’ elsewhere in this directory for further details). Christmas Day and New Year's Day will cause service to be one day late for that week only.

If you are having trouble with wild animals, particularly skunks or raccoons, please call the Clermont County Game Warden at 734-7027, or look in your local phone book for wild animal removal services.
Yard Wasteback to top
Yard waste will be picked up on Mondays at curbside at no cost to Village residents. Residents must call the Municipal Office at least one day prior to the next pickup date. Yard waste must be in a trash bag and weigh no more than 30 pounds. Branches should be bundled no larger than 4’ in length. Call 753-4747 for further information.
